We recently unveiled our shortlist of top European Countries to visit this year. But if you’re looking a little further afield, then here are ten great global travel destinations.
Ten of the Best Destinations to Visit in 2017
#1 Bali
Every year the travel website TripAdvisor ranks the most popular destinations. And this year the Indonesian island of Bali has topped the polls thanks to its winning combination of beautiful beaches, dramatic mountains and very cheap cost of living.
#2 Jamaica
If Bali is a little too far, then the Caribbean island of Jamaica came close in the polls and should acquaint everyone to the easy-going fun of reef-lined beaches, wild rainforests and lots of reggae music!
#3 Santiago
National Geographic Traveller also does a yearly tourism poll, and they decided that the Chilean capital of Santiago was one of the best cities thanks to its pleasant climate, vibrant neighbourhoods, and the monumental surroundings of the Andes Mountains.
#4 Dubai
For those who love a little retail therapy, then it’s hard to argue with the luxury shopping opportunities of Dubai. Although Lucky Nugget Casino’s blog, which is dedicated to things like online gambling, has shown us that this desert nation does pretty much everything a little differently to the rest of the world, especially when it comes to designer brands, jaw-dropping architecture, and exciting nightlife, Dubai is hard to beat.
#5 Oslo
If you need a smile brought to your face, then head to the Norwegian capital of Oslo. This is because the green spaces, clean air, and enviable lifestyles of the city have helped Norway become the happiest place on Earth!
#6 Las Vegas
Whereas those seeking the ultimate in night-time pleasures should take a visit to Las Vegas. This self-proclaimed ‘party capital of the world’ now attracts over 40 million tourists each year thanks to its glittering casinos, gaudy cabaret attractions, and the endless appeal of the surrounding Nevada Desert.
#7 Bangkok
And then for a truly extreme holiday experience, then head to Bangkok. With over 21 million overseas visitors, it’s beaten the likes of London and Paris for the world’s most visited city, and with The Star being a recent convert, that number is only going to grow.
#8 Dubrovnik
Sometimes it’s not the biggest attractions that provide the best holidays, as the Croatian city of Dubrovnik has quietly been picking up the plaudits thanks to its ancient city walls, beautiful palaces, and its proximity to the glorious Adriatic Sea.
#9 Tokyo
For something very different, the Japanese capital, Tokyo, can provide a welcome culture shock. Whether it’s walking the neon-lit streets of Shinjuku, indulging in some karaoke fun in Shibuya, or even just navigating the indecipherable metro system, Tokyo is effortlessly safe, fun and stylish.
#10 Majorca
And finally, if you can’t decide whether you want to party or hit the beach, then head to the Spanish island of Majorca that has a vibrant selection of nightlife attractions on one side, and then plenty of relaxing beaches on the other side that offer a good bet for sleeping off the damage on the morning after!
With half of 2017 behind us already, if you have yet to book a trip away, now is the time to get planning. We would also love to hear about your own personal recommendations and suggestions for where people should be heading this year.
Bangkok rates highly for us as well. We love both the old and the new in Bangkok. 🙂
